this, this bleary-eyed Hebrew in Solomon's day when this book was written,
dragging himself up to his camel well before sunup.

And before he can even kickstart his dromedary, he spots his neighbor. And the
neighbor shouts out, "Good morning and blessings on your day! " What would your
reply be in that moment?

This says it's going to be taken as a curse if somebody talks to you too loudly
early in the morning. This verse, it's an interesting verse. It's all about
timing.

If good timing is important for hitting a baseball or getting a ball to a
receiver 30 it is even more vital in conversation, in the way that you talk to
people. There's a right timing. There's a right timing even for giving a
blessing, it says here.

There's a right timing for giving both criticism and praise. Now, I don't know
about you, but I often want to blurt out something as soon as I feel it or as
soon as I hear it. Or I want to sometimes hold on to a negative comment as long
as I possibly can.

Those few experiences that I've had, that you've had with saying the right thing
at the right moment, are enough to convince any of us of how important timing
really is. So next time you have some great news to share, or next time you have
a tough conversation to have, pray that God will not only give you the right
words to say, but the right timing in saying them. I just want to tell you right
now, never call me at 4 a.

m. to give me good news. I can wait a couple hours to hear the good news.

we're always saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. We're always stepping on
our feet, putting our foot in our mouths.

We're always doing things that confuse the situation rather than clarify it. We
need your wisdom. We need your help.

God, help us to know what to say, and always help us to know when to say it, how
to say it in the right kind of way. Lord, particularly if we're facing a
difficult conversation right now, I pray for your wisdom in the timing of that
conversation. And then just as a part of everyday life, give us your wisdom in
the way that we bless people, in the way that we talk to people, in the way that
we encourage people.

And let your timing, the way that you would bless and encourage and the way that
you would give direction, let your timing be a part of our words. We need your
wisdom for that. We ask for your wisdom in that.
