This transcript was generated by whisper.ai. Welcome to Daily Drive Time Devotions. Today we're going to be looking at Proverbs chapter 28, and I'd like to focus in on verse 13. That verse says this, "He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy. " Let's just get serious for a moment as we look at this verse. When we conceal our sin, our lives stop prospering. We get that dead in the water feeling about our days. It's not just that nothing is happening in our circumstance, it's that there's an inner feeling of emptiness. We're living outside of the light, out of the fellowship of God's mercy, and that is a very lonely place to live. Often, it's not just that we're concealing our sin from others, we're also concealing it from ourselves. We're intentionally choosing to live in denial. Every time the thought comes, we cover it with some thing, some conversation, some noise. How do you know? How do you know if you're concealing a sin? Is it an area of your life that you won't talk to anyone else about? As soon as somebody brings it up, make sure you change the subject. Do you find yourself having inner debates about whether this is right or wrong for you? Are you allowing something into your life that you'd never advise your son or your daughter to do? Those are some questions that help you to know if you're concealing a sin, even from yourself. If these questions are hitting closer to the mark than you'd like, God has an answer. Confess your sin. Renounce your sin. Confess just means to agree with God. God, I agree. It's wrong. It's wrong. I'm sorry that I've let this wrong into my life, that I've chosen this wrong in my life. Tell him that you know deep down that you've allowed yourself to get caught up in a sin that's rooted in selfishness. Confess your sin and then renounce your sin. I know you may have told yourself a hundred times in certain areas that you would never do that again. You would never say that again. Here's the secret to renouncing that sin. To putting it out of your life instead of just wanting it out of your life. Tell another person that you've decided to change. Tell another person that you've decided to change. It could be a close friend. It could be a counselor, but you tell someone else. I know. I know. You don't want to do it. I know. It's scary even to think about it. I know feelings of pride and I don't have to do that come up even when I mention it, but you'll find this. You'll find that in telling someone else you have a new power to say no to that sin. You'll feel like a prison door has been opened and you've been set free. Whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy. God is waiting. God is willing to pour his mercy out on you to help you to experience the expressed mercy that he has in your life, but you have to confess and you have to renounce. Let's begin by confessing. In prayer today, just say, "Jesus Christ, I confess my sin to you. " You know about it already. It's no surprise to you. I'm not telling you any news when I talk about this sin. I confess that I have chosen to do this wrong thing. It may have been once. It may have been multiple times. It may have been years ago. It may be right now, but it's on my mind right now and so I confess it to you and I pray that I've experienced your mercy. I pray that I would renounce this sin by telling someone else, by trusting you, by being serious about the fact that this sin is hurting me, is hurting others, is hurting my relationship with you. God, as I pray about my sin, I take my sin seriously. I want to see it as you see it, but I recognize that my sin does not identify who I am. It's your grace that identifies me and so I pray for a fresh experience of your grace. Help me to live not just as someone who's trying to renounce sin. Help me to live as someone who is experiencing your grace in a daily way. Let your grace be the mark, the identifying mark in my life. I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
